Nurses’ contract expiring at 2 Shore hospitals
From the Asbury Park Press,
The union representing Meridian Health nurses wants the federal government to step in to jumpstart contract talks with the hospital chain. The Health Professionals and Allied Employees union said it wants to make sure there are enough nurses to care for patients at two of its hospitals.
“The problem is, there’s been very little movement at the (bargaining) table,” said Bridget Devane, public policy director for the union.
Meridian Health, based in Wall operates six hospitals in Monmouth and Ocean counties, making it the Shore’s biggest hospital network. It plans to merge with Hackensack University Health Network.
