HPAE Rowan Contract Negotiations Update – August 1, 2016
Our HPAE Negotiating Committee returned to the bargaining table on July 28th. We are continuing to make progress towards our goal of settling our long overdue contract with Rowan University. For the first time, The State has made a formal wage proposal in response to our initial wage proposals. Their offer included step movements and across-the-board increases but is still below what we feel is acceptable for for this contract.
We also advanced in other key areas and signed 13 additional tentative agreements since our last meeting. These agreements include tuition reimbursement, continuing education, seniority and the preservation of layoff rights for research staff, and a number of administrative proposals helping us move closer to a finished contract.
We still have a lot of work to do. In addition to the wages, we continue to work towards agreements regarding job security, parking, discipline, on-call, and compensatory time. We have proposed two additional dates for negotiations in August to keep the momentum going but the dates have not yet been confirmed by Rowan.
Be sure to join us for our upcoming membership meetings scheduled for Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in the Academic Center, Room 277. The meetings are scheduled from 12:00 – 1:00 pm and 1:00 – 2:00 pm. We will provide a detailed contract update and you will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the negotiations.
