Support the “Out of Network” Consumer Protection Bill

HPAE and its coalition partners in NJ For Healthcare are urging  support for S-1285, a bill which will rein in excessive charges for all of New Jersey’s privately insured health plans, by establishing arbitration and a cap on out-of-network rates, as well as protect consumers from surprise, out of network charges.

The bill will likely be posted for hearing in the next NJ Senate Budget Committee meeting on Monday, December 5.  We are asking HPAE members to call the legislators on the Senate Budget Committee and urge them to vote “YES” to send S1285 to the Senate Floor for a vote because New Jersey needs these protections now.

Below are the names and contact information for committee members.  The most important State Senators to call are 1.) Committee Chairman Sen. Paul Sarlo and 2.) any other members in bold who have not already expressed support for the bill.
