HPAE Local 5089 & 5135 Rutgers Bargaining Update, June 3
We resume negotiations with Rutgers on Tuesday morning with the goal of moving our contract to a settlement. We have been working diligently to settle the contract that would merge our two contracts together to create one nursing bargaining unit with one strong unified voice for all Rutgers Registered Nurses.
Although Rutgers continues to fight against parity between our units, we have been successful with wage parity and continue to push for parity throughout the contract.
We are encouraged that our fellow HPAE members in Local 5094 reached a tentative agreement late last week that brought our UMDNJ-Legacy members closer in parity to Rutgers-Legacy unionized employees by improving benefits, expanding tuition remission and compelling Rutgers to engage in joint union negotiations over reducing health care costs and the effects of the RWJ Barnabas affiliation.
We need your support as we continue to work towards a contract settlement. Stay informed and stay active and be sure to sign up for our June 13th Action in Trenton to protect public employee pensions and healthcare that are under attack.
