Local 5147 negotiations update, January 21
Today we received another counter proposal from management. They are now offering increases of 1.8% for 2021, 1.8% for 2022 and 2% for 2023. While we are happy to see they are beginning to approach reasonable across the board increases, there are still other issues they have refused to address.
The first issue is that we are asking for another step for RNs and Techs. Currently there are large gaps between steps 20 & 25, and then again between 25 & 30. We are currently looking to add a 23rd step – which would also increase the value of the steps above it, thereby giving those at the top of the scale a much-deserved salary boost. Additionally, we have requested a fifty cent an hour increase for any service worker who has been at HRH for 10 or more years. HRH continues to say no to both items.
Secondly, we have requested an additional personal day for all workers, full and part time. We are overworked and understaffed at HRH. This extra day off would allow some extra time off to tend to our personal lives – something that is sorely needed for all of us.
We are responding to management’s counteroffer and will keep you informed on their response.
Finally, this is a reminder that there is a strike authorization vote on Monday and Tuesday of next week. You should receive an email from the American Arbitration Association with instructions on how to vote. If you do not get the email, please reach out to AAA directly (instructions on how do so will be emailed and posted on website).
In solidarity,
