Local 5089 Bargaining Update, February 2, 2022
HPAE returns to the bargaining table on Friday, February 4th and is hopeful that some progress will be made. The last session held on Wednesday, January 19th was filled with tension as management continued to push their proposal to only allow actual hours worked to count towards overtime while arguing that the revenue saved would be used to fund programs that would be attractive to staff such as the Bonus Incentive Program or the Weekend Program. The Negotiation Committee rejected their proposal unanimously while expressing how upset our members are with the current working conditions and that their proposal is insulting to our members who strive to provide safe, patient care in spite of the staffing challenges they faced every day.
Long story short, the Hospital heard our message loud and clear however we must continue to speak with one voice. HPAE encourages everyone to please continue to wear stickers in support of your Negotiation Committee. In addition, we ask that you send a picture of yourself with your co-workers holding a sign stating what you want HPAE to fight for in negotiations.
As always, If you would like more information on how you can participate or any other issue, please contact your local union rep or email dbaker@hpae.org for assistance.
