Inspira Health RNs ratify new contracts
HPAE members win better working conditions and make industry-leading wage gains in new 3-year deals
HPAE Locals 5131 and 5621 members have overwhelmingly ratified new contracts that include economic and non-economic gains that will help in retention and recruitment of bedside nurses at the Inspira Health Network hospitals.
The nurses received significant wage increases that will help Inspira nurses bridge wage gaps with other hospitals in the region, with a higher rate of pay.
“This contract is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our members,” HPAE Local 5621 President April Ferrara said. “These qualities are seeing us through this pandemic as we care for our patients, and they kept us focused safe working conditions.”
These gains are important, HPAE Local 5131 President Caroline Sands said, because staffing is in crisis across the healthcare industry.
“We are able to make such progress because our members are united,” Sands added.
HPAE President Debbie White praised the perseverance and professionalism of HPAE nurses at Inspira Health.
“This is a group of dedicated professionals who have persevered through the most challenging moments of their careers,” White said. “I applaud the HPAE bargaining teams and Inspira Health for recognizing that this contract must set a standard for recruitment and retention of nurses. Our state is facing a staffing crisis unlike any other we’ve seen in history and this contract should be seen as an example of how labor and management can find mutually beneficial solutions.”
HPAE Local 5131 members work at Inspira Health’s network of hospitals in Vineland, Elmer, and Bridgeton, NJ and HPAE while Local 5621 members work at Inspira’s hospitals in Mullica Hill and Woodbury, NJ.
