Local 5112 Important Update, June 16, 2022
The Local 5112 Executive Board members have been working diligently in our fight for a fair wage increase for our devoted and hardworking members. We cannot accept the County’s offer (a mere 2% across the board and a step movement if eligible) after working through a 2 + year pandemic with little to no protection equipment or any additional compensation for putting our lives as well as the lives of our families at risk. In addition, we are holding out for language to protect our members in the event the County decides to sell the Hospital yet again. So far the County is open to entering into a 4-year agreement but they are requesting that we agree to language that would prohibit using a personal day before or after vacation. We are also seeking language that would freeze the healthcare premiums at it’s current rate as well as incentives to address the staffing challenges that sometimes occur during prime time holidays.
On another note, we have 2 delegates that will be attending the conference in Boston and we can’t wait to see what information that bring back to our members. As we are working towards wrapping up this contract, we will need the help of every member. Please watch for updates as we will provide more information to you as soon as it develops. If you are interested in becoming more involved or would like more information on the information above, please feel free to contact your local union rep or email dbaker@hpae.org. .
That’s all for now, Staying Union Strong!!!
Respectfully,
Wendi Esteves RN
President 5112
