Local 5004 Wage re-opener petition action
Yesterday we presented the petition renewing our request for a wage re-opener to attract & keep nurses here at Englewood Hospital. We started the day with everyone wearing stickers asking, “Should we stay or should we go.” Thank you to all who sent photos to brighten up our Facebook& Instagram pages.
At 11am a group of nurses gathered in the gallery to prepare to go to Kathy Kaminsky’s office to hand over the petitions. Again, thank you to all that came & spent your break in the gallery. We were pleasantly surprised when Kathy herself appeared in the gallery & we peacefully approached her & asked if we could have a few minutes. Claudia Portnoy from the OR stepped up & spoke up stating our position.
Kathy was a bit overcome with emotion to see us all there. She took the petition & stated that we all want the same thing… and they support us.
We are hoping we will get a response soon now & a willingness to meet & discuss what it will take to keep nurses here.
When we say, “you are the Union,” this is what we mean. Management doesn’t respond to us, the elected leadership, unless they know how important it is to all the membership. Thank you for proving how much this means to you yesterday!!
