Local 5004 Negotiations Update, May 30, 2024
Today (5/30) we had our 14th negotiation session. The day began with management rejecting almost all of our remaining proposals. After listening to that, we prioritized our proposals and then provided management with a complete package in the hopes of getting a fair contract.
We also informed them that if they wanted to avoid getting a strike notice tonight, that they must respond to our issues. It took a while, but after hearing from all of you, they returned to the table and gave us counters that were very close to our position on several important, non-economic issues.
They then asked for the overnight to work on our economics – and while we are anxious to see where they land, it is a lot of calculating.
Our job at the table has always been to get a great contract to bring back to the membership. A contract we can all be proud of. And while we know many of our members are anxious to call a strike, we feel it only prudent to see what tomorrow (our last scheduled day of negotiations) brings. Hopefully they will come back to us with acceptable proposals on staffing enforcement, the acuity system and economics in the morning. If not, then we move to the next step! STRIKE!
We will be back here tomorrow (Friday) for our last scheduled session. As always, we will keep the members posted.
In Solidarity,
HPAE Local 5004 Negotiations Committee
