University Hospital Local 5089 Contract Negotiations Update

We met with University Hospital on July 12, 2024 for our initial negotiations session. This follows our successful event with over 200 HPAE employees on Wednesday kicking off our negotiations season. We are excited to begin this process and look forward to securing improved contract language for all in the negotiations unit.

We passed our initial set of non-economic proposals at the session. These proposals include improved language for evaluations, additional rights for per diem and causal employees, stronger layoff language, shortened probationary period, to name a few.

Management asked a number of clarifying questions about the proposals during the session but had no formal responses to our initial proposals. Our next negotiations session is scheduled for Friday, July 19th and we look forward to responses from management to keep these sessions moving forward and productive each time we come to the table.

During the process of negotiations, we will contact the membership for continued support at the table. We win a great contract when we work together. We will have several events and campaigns planned as we move towards financial, staffing, and wage proposals at the table. We will communicate those to you as we have them planned.
