University Hospital Local 5094 Contract Negotiations Update July 15, 2024
We met with University Hospital on July 15, 2024, for our initial negotiation session. This follows our successful event with over 200 HPAE employees on last Wednesday kicking off our negotiations season. We are excited to begin this process and look forward to securing improved contract language for all in the negotiation unit.
We presented robust non-economic proposals to management today. Our proposals aim to improve and update our current contract language. Some of the proposals we presented today include expanded orientation to include promoted and transferred employees, decreasing the probationary period for new hires and transfer employees, terminal benefits expansion, stronger language for reclassifications/equity reviews/salary reviews, notice period for layoffs, and expansion of Weingarten Rights.
We introduced a new article for our contract addressing Remote Work. In addition, we proposed strengthening our current contract language surrounding Non-Hostile Work with the aim of providing a more supportive working environment.
Per Diems will be a focus for this contract cycle. Following our previous negotiations, we incorporated per diems into the contract via the WDEA and we now seek to expand benefits for that group.
This first session kicked off our negotiations with the Hospital. While we did not receive any formal counter proposals from management today, we engaged in back-and-forth discussions around the proposal content. In future sessions we will present our economic and wage proposals.
Our next session is scheduled for August 5th.
