Local 5185 November 2024 Update
Thank you to everyone who attended the Department of Health Hearing last week. Over sixty HPAE Members showed up to demand that the State Keep Our Hospital Open, Hold CarePoint Accountable, and NO LAYOFFS.

HPAE Holiday Celebration:
December 16, we’ll be hosting a Holiday event in the Cafeteria from 2:00 – 4:00. Come by for Hot Chocolate and Snacks!
Hudson Regional Information:
The State has still not approved the sale to HRH. We are demanding the State put conditions on the sale to protect BMC Employees. Some HRH officials have told members that they will have no rights, benefits, or protections in the future. These individuals have been spoken to. There has been no final agreement on what HRH’s takeover will look like, so these comments are not accurate. If you are spoken to or threatened by an HRH official, please report it immediately.
HRH cannot make any change without negotiations with our union. We all must be prepared to fight hard to protect our hospital and our jobs.
Bankruptcy:
The next Bankruptcy Hearing will be December 10. The Judge’s final decision to allow BMC to pay wages, bonuses, and 401(k) matches will be discussed. Our Attorney will be present to advocate for us to the judge. We have also sent the 401(k) to arbitration as well. More Details to come.
Benefits:
Medical Insurance will be switching to an Aetna PPO January 1, 2025. Dental and Vision will remain the same. Because of our Union Contract, this plan must mirror our current plan and costs will not increase. Management is finishing negotiations with Aetna and will provide the plan name and details.
