HPAE 5094 Spring 2025 Calendar of Meetings and Trainings

HPAE 5094 Local Executive Board Members and HPAE Staff are hosting a series of trainings, events, committee meetings, and organizational gatherings in 2025. We encourage you to be active members of our local by attending as many as you can, engaging and interacting while at the events, and bringing a coworker along with you. When we stand together, we are stronger.

March 2025

3/5: Communications Committee, 12P on ZOOM (meetings held quarterly)

  • Monthly meetings are held with communications committee members interested in getting organizational materials, newsletter, and details out to members. If you are interested in helping other members learn more about our union wins, our organizational goals. Or if you just want to be more active in our union, this committee is a good place to start.

3/12: Union Rep Meeting, 12:30P on ZOOM (meetings held monthly on 2nd Wed)

  • Union Reps meet monthly to discuss unit issues and be informed on updates. If you are interested in becoming a rep, join us for this meeting and hear what being a rep is all about. Not quite ready to be a rep, become a liaison.

3/18: Union101, 12P on ZOOM (training held quarterly)

  • Have you ever wondered what it really means to be in a union and why it’s important? While our contract guarantees us a lot of great benefits, there are many other ways – both at work and in our personal lives – in which being an active member of our union impacts us. In this session, we will go over these less commonly known advantages, HPAE’s history, and how you can get more involved so we can amplify our collective strength!

3/18: Know Your Contract Parts 1 & 2 combinedwith Union 101, 6:30-8P on ZOOM (training held quarterly)

  • Join us in a 90 minute combined session of Union 101 and our Know Your Contract trainings. Some topics covered include: Comp time/Overtime, Vacation Requests, Working outside of your job classification, Unions in the workplace, History of HPAE. If you’ve been wanting to learn more about our union’s power, our contract and the rights it entails for you and all HPAE members, join staff reps Joel and Vicki, and members of your Local Executive Board at this training.

3/21: Research Committee, 12P on ZOOM (meetings held monthly on 3nd Fri)

  • Research Committee monthly meetings are held to discuss research related issues at the job, share resources and planning professional development. Your job doesn’t have to be at the lab bench, all research related positions are invited.

4/8: HPAE 5094 Membership Meeting, 12P on ZOOM (meetings held quarterly)

  • Join HPAE Staff and the Local Executive Board Members to learn about highlights from 2024, discuss concerns in your area, learn how to be more active in our union, and prepare for the new year and future bargaining. Interested in having a meeting with just your department? Reach out to your rep to schedule (in person or zoom).

5/15: Grievance Training, 1-5P on ZOOM (training held quarterly)

  • This training is designed for union reps and liaisons (but is open to all members!) to learn the fundamentals of using our contract’s grievance process to fight contract violations and disciplines.
