Hudson County Healthcare Workers call for Transparency as an Agreement is Announced Between CarePoint Health and RWJBarnabas

Since Carepoint Health began purchasing Hudson County hospitals nearly a decade ago, HPAE members have stood together to fend off cutbacks, layoffs and reductions in services executed by the for-profit owners. A transition to a new owner, especially a non-profit, is a welcome change for the 450 Registered Nurses at Christ Hospital.

We understand this announcement is just the beginning. There must be transparency at all levels as state regulators review the impact the sale of the hospital will have on patients, the community and the healthcare workers at the hospital.

For the 850 healthcare workers HPAE represents at Bayonne Medical Center, there is much concern for the future of the hospital, which has served the community of Bayonne for over a century. For the sake of the community and employees we urge the owners and executives to be transparent and work towards developing a plan that protects the interests of patients and the Bayonne community.
