Local 5621 Member Alert: Move Update
Our Local Executive Board is very aware of the concerns that have developed since the delay of the opening of the Mullica Hill facility. We have aggressively encouraged open communications with management, however, until Wednesday, December 4, 2019, they have not been completely transparent.
A class action grievance was filed on behalf of all bargaining unit nurses who have lost hours due inability to train in Mullica Hill, secondary to the lack of leadership presence. Additionally, mandatory cancels have occurred due to the floor assignment location changes in Woodbury, as they would be at the Mullica Hill location. Excess of staff vs unit size capabilities in Woodbury were established without the unions prior knowledge and therefore removing our right to “meet, discuss and quickly resolve relocation Issues.” This Process Agreement document can be viewed at the HPAE website.
HPAE and our local have also filed a demand to bargain over the ongoing issues, as there is only an anticipated move date of December 15, 2019 at the present time.
During negotiations our primary objective was to ensure all nurses kept their positions without having to reapply. The Process Agreement Unit Stability clause states, “RNS electing to relocate shall not be permitted to apply for job postings and/or transfer within IMCW or employment with IMC from September 12, 2019 through six months after relocation. This was agreed upon because there was a waiver exception in Article 35 stating “IMCW may waive this requirement at its discretion which will not be unreasonably denied.” A meeting was held and a grievance filed to reiterate the agreement without effective change.
We will continue to address concerns at our bargaining session this coming week and keep everyone informed.
In Solidarity,
Local 5621 Executive Board
