Local 5147 negotiations update, January 28
This week we wrapped up our strike authorization vote. We want to thank everyone who participated. The vote was overwhelming – 98% voted to authorize a job action! This shows the dedication of our members to making HRH a better place to work and that they will go all out to make our union strong!
During the course of this vote, management provided us with new proposals that get closer to meeting some of our major demands. The last proposal they sent was 1.9%, 1.9% and 2% with improvements to the top step (step 30) of our RN and Tech scales, as well as a seniority increment for service workers with 10+ years at HRH.
While this is not where we want to end up, it is getting much closer to the point where we feel a vote on ratification can soon be achieved. But this could not have happened without all the members’ involvement!
So stay tuned – we continue to pass proposals back and forth and it is our hope that we will soon be able to announce a final agreement. For now, we will not be calling a job action – however, the successful authorization vote means that we can quickly do so if necessary.
Thanks again to all our members. You ARE the union and when we stay united, we can achieve our goals!
In solidarity,
5147 Negotiations Committee
