Virtua Profile: James Minch

I have been in Emergency Medical Services for almost 20 years. I started at Lourdes and was employed there for about a year and then, after Virtua took over Lourdes, I have been employed by Virtua for an additional two years.

I am a father of two little kids ages 3 and 1 1/2 who works continuously to provide a good childhood for them and my wife. We like to spend our time outside and playing.

Why organize?

I believe Virtua is a great place to work. There are issues that seem to take forever to resolve and that has a great impact on the everyday job that my fellow employees and I do. Having a union will give us a structure to address workplace issues.

Why should Burlington and Camden counties care about you organizing?

That we are all hard working employees who are trying to serve our communities to the best of our abilities. We are organizing to provide the best service possible to them.

What would being respected on the job look like?

Having a say in the direction of the department and where it is going would make a lot of employees feel like they are respected. Just having input in that would go a long way.
