HPAE Lobby Day Set for May 16
We’ll be going back to Trenton on May 16 with our allies in the labor movement and in the community to advocate with state legislators for safe staffing legislation and other key issues. Last year, over 200 HPAE members and staff participated in the annual Lobby Day event.

Inspira Nurses Meet with Sweeney Staff to Discuss Staffing, Other Key Issues
As contract negotiations near for Registered Nurses at all of the Inspira hospitals in south Jersey, HPAE Vice President Bernie Gerard and nurses from Inspira Locals 5131 and 5621 met with staff from State Senate President Stephen Sweeney’s office to discuss working conditions and patient care issues at Inspira.

United Farm Workers leader César Chávez breaks a 24-day fast, by doctor’s order, at a mass in Delano, California’s public park. Several thousand supporters are at his side, including Sen. Robert Kennedy. Chavez called it “a fast for non-violence and a call to sacrifice” – March 10, 1968
