Pres. Obama’s Supreme Court Nominee Is Pro-Labor

Yesterday, President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to be on the U.S. Supreme Court. In his nearly two decades on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Judge Garland has rarely ruled against the National Labor Relations Board. But when he has overturned NLRB’s decisions, he has done so to the benefit of labor unions.

Equal and Fair Pay Is Everyone’s Issue

We rely on home health aides and nursing assistants to care for our elderly in nursing homes and to visit home bound patients. The low wages they are paid unfortunately reflects our misplaced priorities. They are also mostly women, earning the lowest pay in the healthcare industry, with average hourly wages ranging from just below $11 an hour for home health aides and under $13 for nursing assistants.

Bill to End Gender Pay Gap Goes to Gov. Christie

The New Jersey Assembly Monday voted to pass A2750, a bill aimed at combating pay disparities derived from gender in the workplace. The bill, which received 53 ‘yes’ votes, 14 ‘no’ votes, and 6 abstentions, will now head to Governor Chris Christie as it was already passed in the state Senate.

The Rolling Stones, Joan Baez, the Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead and other musicians request that the station not play their music as long as the station is run by strikebreakers – March 17, 1968
