Healthcare – Open Enrollment/Changes to State Health Benefit Program
The special open enrollment period to make changes to your State Health Benefit Program (SHBP) begins Monday, December 12th through Tuesday, December 20th. HPAE encourages every member to confirm their existing plan however there are a few other important things that you should be aware of:
- Members currently in NJ Direct/NJ Direct 19/OMNIA do not need to make any changes as the employee contribution rate will be based on their salary going forward as opposed to a monthly premium. Keep in mind, there are increases to the co-pays, which you should review using the premium contribution calculator prior to making a decision.
- Members currently in NJ Direct 15 will need to make a decision regarding their plan as compared to the other plans using the SHBP premium contribution calculator. Please be advised that this plan does not automatically convert to the NJ Direct/Unity plan which is based on members’ salary as opposed to a monthly premium.
- When using the SHBP premium contribution calculator, it is very important that members select “State All Other” when comparing the various rates and plans.
- The premium contribution calendar must be run twice in order to ensure that you are reviewing the correct rates when comparing plans.
If you opt to remain in your current plan, the changes to the State Health Benefits Program are scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2023.
If you would like more information, please read the email entitled “Special Open Enrollment” from UH or visit this page on our website. Also, to visit the SHBP premium contribution calculator to compare plans please click here.
