HPAE Local 5030 Reaches Historic Tentative Agreement with Hackensack Meridian Health

One week after the contract expired, HPAE Local 5030 reached a tentative agreement after four long and difficult months of bargaining with Hackensack Meridian Health.

HPAE Local 5030 represents approximately 800 Registered Nurses, Professionals, Technical Staff, License Practical Nurses, Service Workers, and Skilled Maintenance Staff at HMH Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, NJ.

“The agreement reached is historic and groundbreaking. The safe staffing improvements and wage increases recognize the importance in protecting patients and respecting healthcare workers,” said Debbie White, RN, HPAE President. “The negotiated language will go far in recruiting and retaining the hospital’s most valuable asset, the staff.”

Local 5030’s nearly 800 workers are scheduled to vote next week, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

“Throughout these negotiations HPAE Local 5030 healthcare workers have demanded safe staffing ratios in their contracts because they know it benefits patients. Additionally, throughout the last few months of bargaining the community stood alongside this group of workers. Their support was instrumental in achieving this victory for our hospital, for patients and for the workers,” White added.

Details on all of the agreements reached between HPAE Local 5030 and Hackensack Meridian Health at Palisades Medical Center will not be released before the members vote to ratify.
