Local 5185 October 2024 Union Update
- We have confirmed that Medical Insurance coverage has been reinstated, retroactive through September 25. You can get a Coverage Letter and Claims Form from HR or find them here.
- Be sure to save all bills, late fees, cancellation fees, and proof of payment. If you have any issues or were harmed because you were not able to get timely treatment, contact a Union officer immediately.
- CarePoint plans on finding a new provider for medical insurance starting in November or December. We have made clear, and management agrees, that our contract requires any new plan to be substantially similar to our current benefits, with no increases in premiums/copays/etc.
- Management has told us that they plan to match our 401(k) payments up to 1% this October instead of the 3% our contract explicitly requires. This is a clear violation our Agreement. We have already filed a grievance and will fight for everything you are owed. Management has been informed that if they do not pay the full match, they will be on the hook for ALL missed interest and fees.
- Management has neither confirmed nor denied whether they will go through with any layoffs. We have demanded to bargain with CarePoint over any potential layoffs. More Updates to come.
- Because of our activism, Leaders from all six CarePoint unions are meeting with corporate leadership and the DOH Financial Monitor every Friday for updates.
- HPAE is excited to now cover all members with our occupational liability insurance plan as a benefit – effective July 1, 2024. https://www.hpae.org/resources/aft-nurses-health-professionals-occupational-liability-plan/
