Nurses and Health Professionals at University Hospital Ratify New Contracts
Over a two week period, 1,300 HPAE members at University Hospital in Newark voted to approve new, three year contracts which are retroactive to October 2014 and will expire September 2017. The new contracts are the first contracts negotiated by Local 5089 (RNs) and Local 5094 (health professionals) with hospital management since the reorganization of UMDNJ made the hospital a stand alone facility.
Local 5058 Activist Rita Hrscko Is Retiring
Rita Hrscko, a former President of Local 5058/Jersey Shore University Medical Center and a long-time HPAE union activist, is retiring after a nursing career that has spanned 40 years. HPAE leaders and members celebrated Rita’s retirement at a dinner party held on Tuesday.
