January 15th Rallies to Protect Our Healthcare

Working families across the country will rally on Sunday, January 15 to save Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act from efforts in Congress to destroy healthcare for tens of millions of Americans. President-elect Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress are threatening to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a viable replacement, which will take away healthcare from 30 million Americans. HPAE members will be participating in rallies in Newark and Philadelphia.

Women’s March on Washington, Other Cities Set for January 21st

As the inauguration of Donald Trump nears, HPAE is urging members to join the hundreds of thousands of people who will take part in the Women’s March on Washington, as well as marches in Trenton, Philadelphia, New York and other cities, on January 21st to support inclusion, democratic rights for all Americans, and social justice.

HPAE Supports National OSHA Standard to Prevent Workplace Violence

HPAE Vice President Bernie Gerard and Local 5089 Grievance Chair Banita Herndon spoke at a public meeting sponsored by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to support the need for an OSHA standard to prevent workplace violence in healthcare and social assistance. The meeting provided HPAE and other unions with an opportunity for members to tell their personal experiences with workplace violence, as well as allowing for discussion among groups interested in these standards.

HPAE Education Days – March 7, 9

HPAE is holding our annual Education Days in early March. On Tuesday, March 7 (Kenilworth, NJ) and Thursday, March 9 (Mt. Laurel, NJ), we’re offering a day-long program with two workshops: “Safe Staffing – Safe Work” and “Respiratory Protection for Healthcare Workers.” The cost for HPAE members is $25, but the payment is refunded upon attendance at the event. A total of 6.0 contact hours will be awarded.
