Local 5058 Member Retreat Held
Local 5058 held its annual Member Retreat yesterday at the Neptune City First Aid Building.
Local 5058 President Kendra McCann provided an update on the upcoming negotiations with Hackensack Meridian. The local will be working closely with our sister local at Southern Ocean Medical Center, as well as the local at Palisades Medical Center, to achieve our key contract priorities, including improved staffing and health insurance.
We also had two CE workshops which provided a total of 5.0 contact hours for members who attended both workshops.
The morning workshop was on the topic of “Safe Staffing – Safe Work.” In this interactive workshop participants learned about the negative impact of short staffing on patients and staff and why staffing ratios are key to ensuring quality patient care.
The afternoon workshop was facilitated by Kathleen Gialanella, BSN, JD, who presented on the “Legal Pitfalls That Promote Mandatory Reporting Requirements: The Cullen Law and Beyond.” As usual, Gialanella provided extremely useful information and analysis on this important topic.
