HPAE Education Days Focus on Protection
March 5, 2015
HPAE held our semi-annual Education Days this week. Over 70 HPAE members attended the Education Day at the Kenilworth Inn on Tuesday; another 20 braved the snow and ice today in Mount Laurel, NJ. The Education Day in both locations focused on protection – protection from infectious diseases in a healthcare setting and protection of our financial security in our retirement. HPAE offers Education Days twice a year, in both the southern and northern regions of New Jersey.
The morning workshop on infectious diseases covered the following topics: the exposure risk to Ebola and other potential infectious disease outbreaks; the OSHA requirements outlined in the blood-borne pathogen, respiratory protection and PPE standards; and the control measures for preventing transmission of infectious diseases in healthcare. HPAE members earned 3.5 contact hours for attendance at this workshop.
The afternoon workshop on financial planning for retirement examined benefits from Social Security and Medicare, investment strategies to help maintain one’s investments, and estate planning to help preserve assets and minimize taxes.
