HPAE Visiting Nurses ratify 3-year contract
Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses unanimously approve contracts upgrading pay, benefits and important new job protections
HPAE nurses at the Visiting Nurse Association—members of HPAE Local 5107 at VNA Health group of NJ and VNA of Englewood—have unanimously ratified a new three-year contract that improves compensation and benefits.
HPAE President Debbie White, RN, said that these are nurses who see patients in their own homes, providing cost-effective care and keeping patients out of costly treatment facilities.
“Visiting nurses are trusted members of the communities they serve and this new contract will improve their conditions of employment,” White said. “These nurses cared for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, often conducting visits via telephone or video conference. As they return to in-person visits, they wanted to address safety concerns.”
“The agreement provides our members with wage increases and a framework for safety on the job in these challenging times so they can continue to do their important work,” White added.
Among other things, the members won:
- 2.75% in pay raises in the first year and 2.5% raises in the second and third year of the agreement;
- Special parking placards to they can park safe distances from the homes they serve
