Local 5621 Union News: South Tower Update, E-learning/Epic, and More!
Happy spring! We are writing with some important updates for all union members.
Firstly, we are looking to fill upcoming vacancies on the Labor-Management/Staffing Committee. If you are interested, please email us at [email protected]. This is a great opportunity to get more involved in the union, and as a bonus, it also counts toward Clinical Ladder!
Our 2025-2028 contract is available in full on our local website and has been ordered from the printer. Thank you for your patience! The new books should arrive soon. We will be in touch with distribution dates and locations!
Please continue to file short staffing forms and ARCC up staffing concerns in real time, or as close to real time as possible. If you have any trouble accessing the short staffing form, please reach out to your unit rep or to one of us so that we can help you.
Regarding the rollout of Epic: Inspira management has informed us that
E-Learnings will need to be completed prior to your first Epic class. Per management, anyone who has not completed the E-Learnings ahead of time will be turned away. Please plan accordingly!
Construction on the new South Tower continues, and we finally have some news to share regarding Inspira’s plans for the tower (
all of which remain fluid and are subject to change). In May, Inspira will begin holding weekly townhall meetings with updates about the expansion. Here is the tentative plan for what the tower will contain:
- 5 South: 32 beds
- 4 South: 32 beds
- 3 South: 10 bed Neuro ICU ; 4 bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit ; 10 SDU beds
- 2 South: 24 bed Observation unit; Maternity unit with 10 L&D beds, 20 Mom/Baby beds, 6 ICN beds, 5 triage beds; 2 Interventional Radiology rooms and 1 Procedure room; CT scan facilities.
Again, the above is tentative and could change between now and when the tower opens. We are sharing it with all of you in the interest of transparency and open communication, and we will continue to keep you informed as the tower gets closer to completion.
Finally: we know there is a lot happening at Inspira right now. If you have questions or concerns about your department, or if you are looking for a way to get more involved in the union, please reach out!
In solidarity,
Your Local Executive Board
