Negotiations Update
Dear Members,
We met with management and made some progress on wages for both RNs and LPNs, including reaching agreement on starting rates. While movement is a step in the right direction, the overall wage proposal is still not where it needs to be, especially for more experienced nurses.
At the same time, management is proposing changes in other areas that raise serious concerns, including:
- No increase for per diem nurses for the length of the contract
- Changes to holiday pay, with fewer holidays paid at time-and-a-half
Taken together, these proposals still include significant givebacks, and we made it clear that there must be a fair balance between wages, benefits, and working conditions.
Your Negotiation Committee is actively engaged and working hard at the table, pushing back on these proposals and advocating for a contract that reflects the value of the work you do every day. We are carefully reviewing every detail and preparing a strong counter-proposal.
What’s most important right now is unity. The strength of this process depends on all of us standing together. When we stay informed, engaged, and united, we put ourselves in the strongest possible position to secure a fair agreement.
Next Steps:
- We are waiting for management to provide their full proposal in writing
- The committee will meet to finalize our counter-proposal
- Our next bargaining session is scheduled for May 6 at 10 AM
We will continue to keep you updated every step of the way
In Solidarity,
5107 Negotiation Committee
