HPAE to hold a Virtua Memorial Hospital Safe Staffing Saves Lives Town Hall

HPAE Local 5105 contract with Virtua Health expires on Sunday, May 31, 2026

Elected leaders and community members will join HPAE President Debbie White, RN, and HPAE Local 5105 nurses at a 6 p.m. Town Hall on Monday, May 18, 2026, to discuss bargaining  Safe Staffing ratios into the contract they’re negotiating with Virtua Health.

WHO: HPAE Local 5105 Registered Nurses and other Safe Staffing advocates, led by:

  • HPAE President Debbie White, RN;
  • HPAE Local 5105 President Sheryl Mount, RN;
  • Senator Linda Greenstein (LD14) – Prime Sponsor, S.3022, the “Patient Protection and Safe Staffing Act.”
  • Assemblywoman Carol Murphy (LD-7), NJ Assembly Deputy Speaker, Chair of Assembly Health Committee – Prime Sponsor, A.1974, the “Patient Protection and Safe Staffing Act.”
  • Assemblyman Balvir Singh (LD-7) – Co-Sponsor, A.1974, the “Patient Protection and Safe Staffing Act.”

WHAT:  The Negotiating Committee for HPAE Local 5105 Registered Nurses have held several negotiating sessions with Virtua Health administrators without progress on key issues, especially Enforceable Safe Staffing ratios. HPAE Local 5105 Nurses will share how unsafe staffing affects patients and nurses alike and how the benefits of staffing ratios are actually based on scientific research.
