Local 5105 Bargaining Update #8
Yesterday (5/26/2026) at bargaining, we exchanged proposals and are making some progress on orientation language, holiday scheduling, observed holidays and a few other smaller issues. We also had some substantive but very frustrating conversations about staffing. Management asked us questions about staffing issues in the hospital that we have answered and addressed countless times at both staffing and labor management committee meetings. They still have not responded to our latest proposal on staffing, and they are still holding on their last proposal to put their current “target staffing guidelines” in a couple of units into the contract.
Tomorrow on Thursday the 28th, we will be holding our Car Caravan at 6:00pm starting in front of the Aldi at Lumberton Plaza. This is the last major public action we’re taking before our last scheduled day of bargaining, so we strongly encourage everyone who can to participate! We will be circling the hospital along with our giant mobile billboard to send one more clear message to management right before our last scheduled bargaining day. The whole community is invited to come!!! Here’s the link to register: Here’s the link to register.
We also want to remind you that we’ll be holding our membership Meeting on Monday, June 1st at 8:00am, 4:30pm and 8:00pm at the Mount Holly Moose. Depending on how bargaining goes, his will be either be a meeting where we suggest ratification of a new contract or a meeting where we discuss next steps, including planning for and recommending a strike. We will continue to update you in the coming days.
We have continued to build and demonstrated a tremendous amount of power and unity, and we are seeing the results. As we enter the final days of bargaining, now is the time to push even harder as we fight for a contract that we and our patients deserve. The 726 nurses who voted YES can’t be wrong!!! It’s time for Virtua to get it done!!!
In solidarity,
Your Local 5105 Bargaining Committee
