Local 5105 Bargaining Update: May 14th Strike Vote Meetings!!!

After our 5th bargaining session yesterday, we finally received Virtua’s economic proposal: 2.5% increase in year one followed by 2% increases in the following two years. As insulting as this proposal is, we remain even farther apart on our most important issue which is staffing. We were able to make some progress on smaller issues and got the hospital to walk back some of its proposal to eliminate sleep time.

As insulting as this wage proposal is, it still reflects the power we have been able to build throughout this campaign. While we remain very far apart, the hospital is starting to move on some of our most important issues, and they are only doing this because of the collective actions we have been taking. But we still have a long way to go, and the only way continue to force more movement and win the contract that we need is if we continue to ramp up the pressure.

This Thursday, May 14th we are holding a critically important General Membership Meeting to give you a more detailed update on negotiations and discuss and vote on strike authorization. All members are strongly encouraged to attend one of the sessions:

  • 8:00 AM – Moose Lodge (853 Woodlane Rd, Mt. Holly, NJ 08060)
  • 4:30 PM – Zoom
  • 8:00 PM – Moose Lodge

Following the meetings, electronic voting will take place on May 14th through Sunday, May 17th.

This vote will determine whether the bargaining committee is authorized to issue the mandatory 10‑day strike notice if necessary. A strong “YES” vote gives us significantly more leverage at the table — management will know that our members stand united and that we have the power to act at any time.

We need EVERY MEMBER to participate and vote. High turnout shows the employer that our entire union is behind us and ready to do what it takes to win a fair contract.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Our unity is our power.
