Phoenix Center Union Negotiations Update, May 21, 2026

On Monday (5/18/2026), management tried to unilaterally implement a new medical insurance plan. Union members made their opposition heard: we sent a ‘Cease & Desist’ letter, and within 48 hours, management backed down. We later learned that the new plan would likely not have been substantially comparable to members’ current insurance.

Yesterday (5/20/2026), we sat down for our fifth session. While we have made some progress on Successorship, 401(k), Cross-Training, Limits on Non-Nursing Duties, and Bereavement Leave, Management’s proposal for a raise is still at 2.25%, they continue to reject our demands for safe staffing, and they have not given us any of the information we need to negotiate over insurance.

On Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00, we will have a Union Meeting to discuss and explain our next steps.
