Local 5105 Bargaining Update: SIGNIFICANT RATIOS ON TABLE – STRIKE POSTPONED!

Because of your calls, actions, and our strike notice, Virtua management made significant progress on staffing ratios and our other proposals. The bargaining team has given a new date to allow time for negotiations to continue. However, if Virtua doesn’t deliver, 800 nurses will be on the picket line for a new strike date of June 23rd!

Staffing: Management FINALLY proposed ratios and committed to hiring new staff, but we still need to ensure the ratios are enforceable!

HET: Management agreed to some language that should reduce HET, but we need Virtua to stop abusing HET in the future!

Safety: Management moved closer to many of our proposals. They are already installing additional hardwired panic buttons in procedural areas, but they are still rejecting a clearer requirement for notifying employees regarding potential exposure to infectious disease!

Wages: Management moved closer to us on wages, but we need to maintain competitive wages for our region! Virtua’s proposal also fails to give strong increases across the board, and we need them to recognize all nurses across our seniority scale!

Our next negotiations date is THIS FRIDAY JUNE 13th at ALoft Hotel (558 Fellowship RD). Negotiations are open to all members and every member who can should come! Arrive at 9:30 AM. In Additon, please join the membership meetings on Tuesday (June 16th) to hear the updates.

ALL MEMEBERS NEED TO JOIN THE MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS ON TUESDAY!
