Local 5185 July 2026 Important Union Update

PTO/TOB: Management tried to cap peoples’ PTO/TOB accruals and did not move many members’ TOB into their PTO bank on May 31. This was a violation of APPENDIX H of our Contract.
Members notified union leaders and negotiated to fix this. Affected members will now have an additional month (through January 31, 2027) to use this year’s “XPTO” balances. Check your accrual banks to make sure they are correct.
Secaucus Professionals: The Professionals at Secaucus Hospital filed with the Labor Board to join HPAE Local 5147 last week! Our union is growing because we’re Stronger together!
HPAE United: HPAE Members at Bayonne, Secaucus, and Christ are standing together! We are demanding HRH Do the Right Thing across the entire system by honoring our contracts and respecting their workers.
- Recognize Secaucus Hospital Professionals’ union and meet with them promptly to bargain in good faith.
- Properly Staff all units at Bayonne Hospital.
- Return all stolen time to workers at Secaucus.
- Pay all laid-off Christ Hospital workers the full severance they have earned.

Grievances: We have several class-action grievances headed to arbitration, including Staffing, Union Work, and Hostile Workplace.
