HPAE Local 5118 Constitution and Bylaws Update

Proposed Amendments Approved by the Membership

The HPAE Local 5118 Executive Board is pleased to announce that the proposed amendments to the Local Constitution and Bylaws have been approved by the membership.

The bylaw vote was conducted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA), an independent third-party election vendor. The ballots were counted on August 17, 2026, and the proposed amendments were approved.

These amendments are designed to strengthen our union by expanding the Local Executive Board and strengthening leadership within your Local. The changes will help ensure that our Local has the leadership structure and representation needed to effectively serve our members and continue building a stronger union.

Key Changes Include:

  • Expanding the Local Executive Board to include nine Vice Presidents, a Secretary, and a Treasurer.
  • Establishing clearer officer election, delegate, installation, and vacancy procedures.
  • Modernizing meeting notices, electronic meetings, and electronic voting where appropriate.
  • Creating separate articles for the Local Executive Board and Unit Representatives to clarify their respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Updating provisions that are outdated or no longer reflect how the Local operates.

We  want to thank all of our members who participated in the voting process and helped shape the future of HPAE Local 5118.

An updated copy of the Constitution and Bylaws will be added to the HPAE Local 5118 website shortly for members to review.

Thank you for your continued participation, support, and commitment to building a stronger HPAE Local 5118.
