Local 5186 September Union Update
401(k) Matches: Last May, we reached a settlement with HRH over the two missed 401(k) matches. Management agreed (in front of a Judge) to pay the first missed payment (plus interest) in February 2026 and the second in August 2026. Management has not deposited the settlement money for the August matching payment. We are taking them back to court.
WE NEED INFORMATION: We need to know if your 401(k) is still with Corebridge and if you have received your tax refund this year: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/Ye60NQ5Lvh
Tell your state legislators to vote yes on S.4395/A.5185 to give the Department of Health more tools to hold healthcare corporations (like HRH) accountable when they break the law: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/demand-stronger-oversight-of-njs-healthcare-facilities this HPAE-Supported legislation will:
- Increase financial penalties when facilities violate healthcare operating standards,
- Ban “sale-leaseback” arrangements (selling the land under a healthcare facility to a third party who then charges the facility rent)
- Allow the DoH to appoint a receiver if the current operator is putting patient care at risk by unlawfully reducing services or closing a facility.
401(k) Consulting Fees: For the last two Quarters, members have been charged excessive “Consultant” and “Guided Portfolio” fees. We have found that the plan has not had a fiduciary (a person legally responsible for making sure the plan benefits its participants) since 2021. Basically – no one is watching the money. Our team is working to contest these fees and make sure a responsible fiduciary committee with worker representation is put in place.
Be sure to set up an account in the HPAE Retiree Medical Trust so you can monitor your contributions and access your benefits when you retire: https://edge.zenith-american.com/page.php?p=members/index.php&ac=login
