VNA of Englewood and Essex Negotiations Update, October 1, 2026
We have held three bargaining sessions on September 10, September 23, and September 30. Management has not yet responded to most of the concerns we raised during our first session. We have presented all of our economic proposals.
Management has proposed changes to workflow, the on-call structure, and the amount of time nurses have to complete documentation. These changes could significantly affect how work is assigned, scheduled, and completed.
Nurses are standing firm on preserving the documentation time currently provided in our contract, which allows 24 to 48 hours for documentation. We are also advocating for a reduction in the number of patients each nurse is required to see so that nurses have enough time to provide safe, quality care and complete their documentation properly.
Safety remains a top priority. We presented a proposal for panic buttons, and management said it is exploring the option. Nurses emphasized that this issue must be addressed because their safety matters.
We will continue standing together in solidarity and unity as we work to protect safe staffing, reasonable workloads, and quality patient care. We will keep members informed as negotiations progress.
In solidarity,
Local 5107 VNA Negotiations Committee
