Patient safety and workers’ rights will top the agenda when HPAE nurses and health professionals begin bargaining with several large healthcare corporations across New Jersey over the next few weeks.

Our HPAE Local 5089 Negotiating Committee held our third bargaining session with Rutgers University on May 3, 2018.
On Wednesday, May 2nd, a vote was held to ratify a new agreement with University Hospital for one year.
As New Jersey’s largest healthcare union we worked with coalition partners to have earned sick days become law.
South Jersey leaders are cautiously optimistic about the plans of a healthcare facility group to revitalize a long-struggling Salem County hospital.
On Friday, April 27th, we held a ratification vote for our one year agreement with University Hospital. 95% of members who turned out to vote gave the thumbs up for our new agreement.
Labor unions in NJ co-sponsoring the national “Nurses Take DC” event on April 26th organized buses from Bergen to Cumberland Counties to send nearly 100 nurses from New Jersey.
Management has proposed changes to work and on-call requirements. Our Next Session is Tuesday, May 1.
