The budget deal passed by the Republicans in the House of Representatives strips away support programs from the people who need it most in order to give large tax cuts to those who need it the least.
On May 29, 2025, HMH and HPAE will return to the bargaining table —and we are ready, united, and determined to keep fighting for our demands: safe staffing ratios, fair wages, and the respect we deserve.
Authorizing our negotiating committee to call a strike if necessary, will put us in the strongest possible negotiating position as our contract nears expiration.
Tuesday, 5/6 was a long day, but resulted in little progress. Thursday, 5/8 we were back at the table until nearly 8pm, however this time we walked away with several Tentative Agreements.

Contract for Nurses saving lives at Hackensack Meridian Health’s hospital expired April 30
On Friday (5/2/25), Management presented their proposals for our next Contract.
University Hospital, New Jersey’s only public acute-care hospital, needs a strong and vocal champion, advocates say, especially given ongoing reconstruction at its Newark campus and the potential for massive federal funding cuts to health care programs.

As we kick off nurses week next week, we’ll be holding a cafeteria day on Wednesday, March 7th from 6:30a to 9:30a, 11a to 2p and 6p to 8p.
