Our Solidarity Rally was a success! The corner of Bergen and 12th Ave was painted all union red as HPAE members gathered to show support for each other.
We met with the hospital to continue negotiating over our contract, which expires at the end of the month. Management proposed 1.45% across-the-board increases for Staff Nurses and 2.75% increases for other, non-bedside nurses.
The Bargaining Committee is looking for volunteers to share stories at the September 27th bargaining session.
CarePoint Health says 2,600 employees working in its hospitals may be laid off in December. These employees work at Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital in Jersey City and Hoboken University Hospital.

It is critical that you participate in Union actions to show support for our bargaining proposals! Our September 16th session was not worth our time. Every time we think we take two steps forward, the Hospital takes a step back.
We will be having a General Membership Meeting at the Glendola Firehouse, on Wednesday October 9th, from 5pm to 9pm. All Eboard and HPAE reps will be present to listen to your concerns and answer any questions you may have.
On September 13, we met with University Hospital to continue negotiating over our contract. We stood by our safe staffing ratios proposals, which would ensure the best patient care possible.
