In recent weeks, members have spoken out in a variety of ways for safe staffing and a fair contract. We held an informational picket last Thursday and released a powerful staffing video to the public.
Because of the AMAZING work you all did over the past two weeks and the incredible turnout for our session on October 1st, management heard your voices loud and clear.
We formed our union at our community hospital in 2003 to ensure a professional voice for nurses in the decisions affecting our patients, our practice and our jobs.
On Tuesday September 25, 2018 we met with our small, but faithful group of members at the Northeastern Campus. We talked about the upcoming HPAE convention and urged people to attend.
On Monday, September 24th, HPAE held another Town Hall event that was sponsored by Mayor Ras Baraka at NJIT to address the changes being made to University Hospital’s inpatient pediatric and pediatric intensive care units.

Labor unions and community organizations are partnering with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka to sponsor a Town Hall.
Our next bargaining session dates and locations are September 28thth 9am-1pm (Liberty Plaza, New Brunswick) and October 16th 9am-1pm.
We’re fighting as a union for safe staffing levels for our community and quality benefits like insurance and time off for our families.
Management has reached out to us to schedule bargaining dates on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
