Contract Settlement at Rowan University
The HPAE Local 5094 and 5089 bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement with Rowan University management and the Governor’s Office for a new contract covering Rowan-SOM Professionals and Registered Nurses. This is the locals’ first contract since the break-up of UMDNJ and the merger with Rowan University. Local 5094 and 5089 protected existing contract standards while making a number of significant improvements. Local 5089 and 5094 members at Rowan University are voting on the contract settlement today.
Chief of Staff Jeanne Otersen Is Leaving HPAE
After 22 years on our staff, Jeanne Otersen is leaving HPAE tomorrow. Jeanne has played a central role in helping HPAE become the largest and most well-respected healthcare union in New Jersey. Since she joined the staff in 1994, Jeanne has guided our public policy and legislative programs. In recent years, she has also assumed overall responsibility for coordinating the work of our staff and our union’s strategic plan. After leaving HPAE, Jeanne will be joining the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) as the Associate Director of AFT’s healthcare division in Washington, D.C. We will miss Jeanne tremendously, but we wish her all the best in her new job and new life in Washington, D.C.
