Retiree Medical Plan Is Financially Strong….And Other HPAE News
April 27, 2017
HPAE Retiree Medical Trust Update
The Board of Trustees of the HPAE Retiree Medical Trust met on Monday to review the Trust’s financial condition, plan assets, and the medical reimbursement benefits paid out to HPAE retirees. The Trust now has over 5,100 active participants and $14.2 million in assets. Since 2008, the investment return on the Trust’s assets has been 8.18% per year.
At the meeting, the trustees also voted to approve Amendment #11 to the plan. The amendment clarifies the plan’s language on survivor benefits (but doesn’t change the benefit), adds language regarding “Qualified Domestic Relations Orders,” and, in conformity with federal law, deletes language for an external review process for claims denials (but maintains the right to have an internal hearing for appealing claims denials).
