Rally for Fair Contracts, Tuesday, September 30
Contract negotiations with University Hospital and Rutgers University are now underway. This is the first time we are bargaining with our new employers since the break up of UMDNJ and a lot is at stake. We want to keep University Hospital strong for our patients and community and we want to protect the medical education, research and services now provided by HPAE members at Rutgers. To do that, management needs to listen to the voices of the frontline nurses and professionals and treat us with the fairness and dignity we deserve. Instead, Hospital management cancelled our last negotiations before the contract expires on September 30th and Rutgers has proposed roll backs to standards we fought hard to achieve like reductions in vacation time, job security and seniority rights.
