Local 5107 VNA Contract Update – March 21, 2018
Contract Negotiations Continue, Federal Mediators Attend 8th Bargaining Session Held March 6th, 2018
We met for eighth bargaining session with VNA last week at the VNA Englewood office.
Given the slow pace of negotiations, the Union and management agreed to invite Federal mediators from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, a branch of the federal government that oversees labor relations and contract negotiations all over the country.
We signed tentative agreements (not final until the members ratify the final agreement in whole) changing Martin Luther King Day and President’s Day to full holidays, by agreeing to delete the float holiday. This is a net gain for members, as employees will not have to choose which holiday to receive holiday pay for. The current language was confusing for management and members.
We are still bargaining over the point value of the visits. Management has agreed to increase the value of a Start of Care visit to 2.5 points, but only if the Union agrees to an increase in weekly productivity minimums.
To be clear, at this time, the Union has
not
agreed to an increase in daily or weekly productivity expectations for nurses. The members have made it clear this is one of the most important issues for nurses all over the VNA. We heard you loud and clear.
