Local 5142 Update and Picket Postponement

Because of the strong show of unity you’ve made through the buttons and Facebook photos, as well as the notice we gave for our informational picket, management made some movement in negotiations last week. We have made the decision to postpone next Tuesday’s Informational Picket as we work to respond to their proposal. We will be rescheduling the picket for shortly after our next session.

In the meantime, it’s clear that the staffing crisis in the hospital continues to escalate to dangerous levels while management continues to reject our staffing proposals. As we prepare for the next negotiation session, we are asking all members to document any unsafe staffing situations on the local online form here: https://www.hpae.org/2019/09/local-5142-staffing-form/. This will strengthen our arguments at the table and provide a level of protection if an incident does occur.
