Local 5131 Negotiations Update, April 28, 2022
We continued with negotiations yesterday and were given a presentation from Melissa Jones, Inspira’s new director of workplace violence. We had previously put forward a comprehensive health and safety proposal aimed to make our facilities safer for all staff. Inspira’s new director echoed many of our concerns and ideas offered throughout the years. Some examples include; badges with less visible last names, readily available panic buttons, support for filing charges with the police, and more accountability for visitors.
Many big issues remain on the table and Inspira continues to hold on:
- the ability to involuntarily float you to all Inspira campuses
- make-up weekend callouts within the next scheduling period
- cancel you after the start of the shift
We are still waiting for the hospital’s economic proposal that covers your across-the-board wage increase, on-call pay, differentials (night shift, charge, preceptor, reassignment). We meet again next week and will send another update as we progress.
