University Hospital Local 5094 Contract Negotiations Update August 26, 2024

We met with University Hospital on August 26th for our fourth session of negotiations. Our Bargaining Team countered the Hospital’s 2% across-the-board increases proposal with 5%, 4.75%, 4.75%, and 5% each year of the contract. The Hospital continues to propose eliminating the step scale and replacing it with a min/max scale, which would make the inequities we are already facing worse. Our Team continued to argue for a step scale at today’s session.

We countered the Hospital’s mandatory weekend make up with a weekend differential proposal.

We advocated for personal cell phone use for hospital business reimbursement with several Bargaining Committee members giving testimonials.
We pushed for changes in the Inclement Weather article, moving away from attendance control policy and advocating for employees designated as Blue not having to use paid time off to cover their hospital-imposed absence.
Lastly, our team stands by our proposal to get all healthcare professionals free parking.

The Bargaining Team works tirelessly to pass well-written proposals across the table and present arguments to support them. But UH Management needs to know that all healthcare professionals support these proposals. If you believe that you deserve more, be on the lookout for a Petition in Support of the 5094 Bargaining Team that we will be distributing soon. We also invite all healthcare professionals to attend the HPAE Solidarity Rally on September 18th between 12pm and 2pm on the corner of 12th and Bergen.

As always, we are also looking for more Contract Action Team members. You can sign up under this link:https://actionnetwork.org/forms/local-5094-uh-contract-action-team-signup/

Our next session is scheduled for September 6th.

In Solidarity,
